The first question our dispatchers will ask:
“911, Where is your emergency?” – Knowing your location is the MOST important thing! If you can’t tell us where the emergency is, we don’t know where to send help.
“What’s the phone number you’re calling from?” – We need to be able to contact you back if we lose connection.
“Okay, tell me exactly what happened” – What’s the emergency? A quick, brief summary of what is happening or has happened should be passed along to the dispatch.
We will then follow up with additional questions. The questions we ask will depend on the situation you have described.
The most important information you can give a 911 dispatcher is the location of your emergency.
We do have a lot of technology to locate a 911 caller, but it is still important to give the location of the emergency before anything else.
Call if you cant, text if you can’t.
In May of 2023, Clermont County Communications Center began receiving text to 9-1-1.
If you find yourself in a situation where you cannot call 911, you can now text. It is always best to call when you can, but text when you cannot.
